If they doubt us?
When we have to say
We're sorry
For the very same thing,
Over,
And over again?
What then?
Eventually,
If we do not gain
The victory,
Don't our words begin
To sound a little hollow?
And our apologies,
Start to seem a little shallow?
Even to the point where,
We are loath
To say we're sorry
Yet again?
Or what if,
Even when we claim
The promises of God
To make us strong,2 Peter 1:2-4
We do the very thing
We vowed we'd never do,
Over,
And over again.
What then?
Eventually,
If we do not gain
The victory,
Don't we start to question
Our sincerity?
And forfeit peace of mind,
For insecurity?
And in the end,
Decide to our chagrin,
That we simply seem
To love the sin,
More than we say
We love the Savior?John 14:151 John 5:2-4
Hearts hurt,
And heads ache,
Thinking these defeated,
Sinking thoughts.
Sometimes,
We wonder if we'll ever
Find the victory
That we sought,
The "much fruit,"
The Fruit of the Spirit
That we long for.
